Pottsville Woman Charged for Making Threats with Firearm

A Pottsville woman has been charged for allegedly threatening another person with a firearm.

According to Pottsville Police, on Friday, March 1st, 2024, around 4:00pm, Ptlm. Flail was dispatched to the 500 block of North Centre St. for disturbance.

Upon arrival, Ptlm. Flail made contact with Willis Spotts, 42, Ricardo Hernandez Maldonado, 40, and Jesica Hernandez Maldonado, 39, all from Pottsville, who were in the rear of the Pottsville Pub & Inn.

Spotts reported, Jesica brandished a handgun that was in her waistband prior to the arrival of police.

During a brief conversation with Jesica Hernandez Maldanado about the whereabouts of the handgun, she did point to her white Toyota Corolla and stated a gun was in her car.

The victim, Spotts, was interviewed and he reported Ricardo was evicted from the Pottsville Pub, and Spotts reported Ricardo refused to leave.

An argument ensued and Ricardo contacted his sister, Jesica to help with moving his belongings.

As Jesica and Ricardo were removing Ricardo's items an argument ensued between Spotts and Jesica.

Spotts reported as Jesica was outside, Jesica positioned her hand making a shape of a pointed handgun  and pointed the gun to her head stating, "Remember my Face."

As Jesica dropped her hand from the side of her face, she lifted her shirt brandishing a black handgun that was in her waistband. Spotts reported, Jesica then placed her hand on the gun and started to remove the gun from her waistband and Spotts ran away in fear she was going to shoot him.

During an interview, Jesica Hernandez Maldanado stated she came to the Pottsville Pub to help her brother move out. Jesica stated she got into an argument with a guy wearing a red shirt and had tattoos all over his face. Jesica stated this man assisted Spotts with forcing Ricardo out of the apartment. Jesica denied brandishing a gun and stated the gun was in her vehicle the entire time. Jesica stated she bought the gun that day at Cabela's and the gun is still in the box she bought it in.

A search warrant was approved and executed which Detective Welsh located a firearm consistent with that described by Spotts.

The BL Taures firearm was located on the passenger floor, under a black book bag in its unsealed original box. Also located was a box of unopened 9mm.

Ptlm. Flail completed a criminal complaint for Jesica Hernandez Maldonado charging her with (1) one count, Terroristic Threats, (1) one count, Simple Assault by Physical Menace, (1) one count, Disorderly Conduct.

Jesica Hernandez Maldonado was arraigned by District Magistrate, Judge Reiley and bail was set at 10,000 straight cash.  She has since posted bail and was released.
