Pottsville Woman Faces DUI and Drug Charges Stemming from Traffic Stop


A traffic stop in Pottsville led to a woman being charged with driving under the influence and drug charges.

According to Pottsville Bureau of Police, on March 15th, 2024, around 5:00am, Patrolman Hrebik conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep Liberty on the 700 Block of North 7th Street. 

The Jeep Liberty was stopped for multiple moving violations. 

The driver, Gina McGinley, 57 of Pottsville, was suspected of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. 

Field sobriety testing was conducted, based on McGinley’s performance she was taken in custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. 

While performing a search incident to arrest McGinley was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. 

McGinley’s blood draw showed she was under the influence of methamphetamine and cannabinoids. 

A criminal complaint was filed with District Magistrate Riley’s office charging Gina McGinley with Driving Under the Influence: Combination of Drugs (Misdemeanor), Possession of Controlled Substances (Misdemeanor), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor).
