Matthew W. Czaplicki, 78, of Browns Rd., Schuylkill Haven, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025 in Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg.

Born on February 2, 1947 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Matthew A. and Laura C. Szarek Czaplicki.

He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and received a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Penn State University.

Matthew was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Co. B 2d Bn 41st Inf 2d Armd Div.

Matthew was a Special Agent for the United States Government.

He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Theresa M. Rawle Czaplicki in 2021.

Surviving are a son Matthew Czaplicki of Pillow; a daughter, Theresa Berry of Hilton Head Island, SC; and six grandchildren.

There will be a viewing on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove. Graveside Services and interment with Military Honors will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 9:30 A.M. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be a procession leaving the Funeral Home at 8:30 A.M. for Indiantown Gap. Anyone wishing to follow in the procession should be at the Funeral Home by 8:15 A.M.

Theresa A. Ushock, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, May 5, 2025.

Theresa was born in Shenandoah, a daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Perun) Kayes. She spent many years working as a special elementary teacher in Shelton, Connecticut, until her retirement, moving back to Shenandoah area several years ago.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Ushock, and by ten brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her sister, Pat, wife of Jules Stremba, Shenandoah, and by her best friend - a woman who everyone should have a friend like - Julia Legnos. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, North Center Street, Ringtown at 11 AM on Saturday, May 10th, 2025. A visitation will be held at the Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the mass on Saturday morning.

Theresa will be laid to rest in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Shenandoah, following the mass.

Geraldine Dolores Hepler
, age 93, of West Main Street, Valley View, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Lehigh Valley Schuylkill East Norwegian Street.

She was born on Saturday, July 18, 1931, in Bear Valley, a daughter of Walter and Irene Lubold Hentz.

Jerri was a graduate of the former Hegins Township High School Class of 1949.

She was the bookkeeper for WD Motors, Elsie's Ceramics, and with her husband they were former owners of the Mini Mart Sub Shoppe, Valley View.

Jerri was also a member of St. Andrew's UM Church, Valley View, and a member of the Eastern Star, Ashland. She enjoyed playing bingo, attending chinese auctions, luncheons with friends and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Jerri celebrated 64 years of marriage to Kenn Hepler, until his passing in 2017.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Kendall Hepler in 2003, and a brother, Chester Hentz.

She is also survived by two daughters, Gretchen Zerbe of Hebe; Kelsey and husband Kevin Fetterolf of Hegins; four grandchildren, Melissa and husband Jeff Spatzer; Matthew Runkle and husband Blair Clarkson, Bethany and husband Turner Klinger; and Kendra and husband Evan Snyder; three great-grandchildren, Tanner and wife Kayla Spatzer, Holden Klinger, Reed Klinger; sister, Janice Rissinger of Valley View, also many nieces and nephews.

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc., Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.

Rose A. Brehony
, 84 of Pottsville, died Sunday at Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Schuylkill Haven.

She was born September 20, 1940, in Pottsville a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Yost Lukach.

She was a graduate of Pottsville High School.

Rose was employed by the Pottsville Area School District prior to retiring.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, and the former Mary Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Wayne Wolfe; her 2nd husband Joseph J. Brehony on September 30, 2024; a daughter, Cathy Parker, a brother, Joseph Lukach.

Surviving are her daughter, Rose Doorly and her husband Thomas, Pottsville; a granddaughter, Alison Williams and her husband Shaun, 2 great-grandsons, Coby and Brody Williams. 2 brothers, Andy Lukach, Cressona; Jim Lukach, Seltzer; a sister, Theresa Ernst, Seltzer; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 15th at 10:30AM from the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:30AM until the time of services. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Robert Chubb, 86, of South Hoffman Boulevard, Ashland, passed away Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Funeral arrangements will be announced. 

The Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements.
