Two Arrested in Schuylkill County for New York Homicide Case


Two individuals wanted in connection with a homicide investigation in Nassau County, New York, were arrested in Tamaqua on Tuesday evening following a coordinated effort between multiple law enforcement agencies.
The arrestees have been identified as Sgroilin Santana, 22, of Tamaqua, and Jaslynn Nevaeh Garcia, 19, of Shillington. According to the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), detectives from Nassau County contacted Troop L regarding a criminal homicide case. Through investigative efforts, authorities tracked the suspects to the 300 block of West Spruce Street in Tamaqua Borough.

At approximately 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Santana and Garcia were taken into custody without incident. The arrest involved a collaborative operation between Troop L Vice, Frackville Patrol, Tamaqua Police Department, and the Schuylkill County Detectives.

After their apprehension, both suspects were transported to the PSP Frackville Barracks, where they were interviewed in the presence of Nassau County detectives. Authorities confirmed that Santana and Garcia were wanted for Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree stemming from the ongoing investigation in New York.

PSP’s Criminal Investigation Unit filed Arrest Prior to Requisition charges, a step typically taken to initiate extradition proceedings for fugitives from justice.
