Emergency crews responded to a reported structure fire Tuesday evening at 418 South Jardin Street in Shenandoah.
The call came in around 7:45 PM, prompting dispatch of multiple fire departments to the scene. Initial reports indicated a working kitchen fire involving a microwave.
Shenandoah Fire Chief Rick Examitas was first to arrive and observed smoke coming from the residence. Upon investigation, Chief Examitas noted that the homeowner had already taken action, using a garden hose to help control the flames before firefighters arrived.
The fire was contained with no major damage and no extension beyond the kitchen area. Crews conducted a thorough check to ensure the fire had not spread.
Responding units included firefighters from Shenandoah, Frackville, and Mahanoy City fire departments, along with Shenandoah Ambulance. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters began clearing the scene within 30 minutes of the initial dispatch.
