According to the Pottsville Bureau of Police, officers were contacted on Monday, June 9, 2025, at approximately 2:46 p.m., when a woman arrived at City Hall to report an assault. The victim, who resides in the 1000 block of Schuylkill Avenue, told police that the incident began after a confrontation with her husband, identified as 38-year-old Bunnie Becker.
The victim reported that while she was packing her belongings to leave the residence, Becker became violent and assaulted her. Police say the assault lasted for about an hour, during which time Becker allegedly stood on the victim’s neck, causing significant injuries. Officers observed numerous bruises, a large laceration, and visible marks to the victim’s neck.
Following the assault, Becker reportedly left the residence with the couple’s three children in an attempt to prevent the victim from leaving.
Police responded to the Schuylkill Avenue address and took Becker into custody without further incident.
As a result of the investigation, Bunnie Becker was charged with felony counts of Strangulation and Aggravated Assault, as well as misdemeanor counts of Simple Assault and Summary Harassment.
Becker was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.
