
A Pottsville man is facing charges following an alleged domestic assault that occurred over the weekend.
According to the Pottsville Bureau of Police, officers were dispatched to the area of East Norwegian and North Jackson Streets on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at approximately 2:49 p.m. for a report of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a 45-year-old female victim who reported that she had been involved in a verbal altercation with her boyfriend, identified as Howard Ash, 46, of Pottsville.
The victim told police that as she attempted to leave her residence in the 500 block of East Norwegian Street, Ash forcefully grabbed her hand, causing a visible injury. The victim further stated that Ash then pushed her, causing her to fall and strike her head on the ground, resulting in swelling to the left side of her head.
Based on the victim’s account and observations made at the scene, police took Ash into custody without incident. He was subsequently charged with one count of Simple Assault and one count of Harassment.
Ash was transported to Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli’s office for a preliminary arraignment. Judge Tarantelli set bail at $10,000 unsecured.
Ash was released pending his next court appearance.
