A Schuylkill County Boy Scout is taking the lead on a project to transform a vacant lot into a welcoming community space - and he’s calling on volunteers to lend a hand.
Alexander Krapf, a Boy Scout from Frackville, has officially launched his Eagle Scout project, a major undertaking that aims to beautify and improve a plot of land at the intersection of Lehigh and Oak streets, directly across from the Turkey Hill gas station.
The ambitious project includes tilling the land, creating flower gardens, resurfacing concrete, laying pavers, and installing benches, picnic tables, a fence, and a gazebo. The majority of the work is scheduled to take place throughout August and September.
One of the standout features of the project will be a gazebo, which is being custom-built and generously donated by STC North. Krapf is now seeking additional volunteers and supporters to help complete the labor-intensive work leading up to its installation.
Those interested in volunteering or supporting the project in any way are encouraged to reach out to the borough and get involved as the community comes together to back this youth-led effort.
