
A Pottsville man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a break-in on the city’s north side over the weekend.
According to Pottsville Police, officers were dispatched around 9:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2025, to the 600 block of North 2nd Street for a reported breaking and entering. When police arrived, they found the front door of a residence open and visibly damaged. The door and door jamb showed signs of being forced open, and a security camera mounted near the entrance had been ripped down.
While investigating the scene, officers spotted a man nearby who matched the suspect’s description. The individual was identified as Tyler Edward Porter, 35, of Pottsville.
Porter reportedly admitted to kicking in the door and removing the security camera. Police took him into custody, and during the investigation, it was discovered that he had also stolen a set of car keys from inside the home.
An arrest warrant was issued for Porter, charging him with:
- Burglary (Felony 1)
- Criminal Trespass (Felony 2)
- Criminal Mischief (Misdemeanor 3)
- Theft by Unlawful Taking (Misdemeanor 2)
- Receiving Stolen Property (Misdemeanor 2)
- Loitering and Prowling at Nighttime (Misdemeanor 3)
