John J. Sideravage, born in Shenandoah Heights, PA and a resident of Cape May County-Wildwood Crest, Avalon and Cape May Court House-for the past 61 years, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on August 5, 2024 at the age of 87. John worked at Atlantic City Electric Company for 30 years serving first as district manager in the Cape May Court House office and then as regional manager for the Southern Region before he retired. Before John started his career at Atlantic City Electric, he worked for Acme markets in Shenandoah to earn his tuition money to obtain his Bachelor of Engineering from Penn State University.

John was very community minded as well, serving as a Director of the Polish Beneficial Association, President of the Serra Club, serving as a member of AHLOA, and Knights of Columbus. He also served as a member IEEE and the Quarter Century Club of Atlantic City Electric. John was very involved with the church in both the Maris Stella Parish (now St. Brendan the Navigator) and Our Lady of the Angels where he was an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and Lector.

John’s first love was his family and then fishing. He enjoyed traveling with friends and family. His vegetable garden was something that he enjoyed in the summer. Often starting his plants early in February so they would be ready for planting come spring.

John is predeceased by his mother Bertha (Raczkowski) Sideravage, his father John J. Sideravage, and sister Jean (Sideraveage) Gustites.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Charlotte, Daughter Diane Fox and her husband Rodney, Son John J. Sideravage and his wife BJ, his grandchildren Elizabeth Mahan, Charles Fox, Jennifer Fox and John (Scooby) Sideravage, and great grandchildren Sienna and Emmett Mahan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Graveside Services which will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 at 10 AM at the St. Casimir's Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights, PA.

William G. Shearstone
, 85, of Shenandoah, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Born in Shenandoah on May 4, 1940, he was the son of the late John and LeeAnn (George) Shearstone.

William was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a manager for JJ Newberry and then spent many years as a laborer in warehousing. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded by his wife Patricia in 2018 and his brother, Thomas.

The surviving family includes his son- William Shearstone with his wife Alissa of Massachusetts, 2 daughters- Charlene Kechula Baker with her husband William of Shenandoah and Jessica Balulis with her husband Jim of Pottsville. 2 brothers- Rich Shearstone with his wife Beverly of New Jersey and Jackie Shearstone with his wife Barbara, also from New Jersey. 8 grandchildren- Lindsey, Julia, Haden, Michael, Jacob, Diamond, Joseph, and Chelsea, 1 great granddaughter- Cecelia, and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday, July 21st from 8:30 to 10:30am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc., 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Scripture services will be conducted at 10:30am by Fr. Dominic Pham. Burial will immediately follow in St. Casimir’s Parish Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in William’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church in Ringtown.

Victor A. Yanuskiewicz “UNCLE VIC”
, 76, of Frackville, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at his home.

Born in Shenandoah on February 19, 1949, he was the son of the late Victor and Dorothy (Stasun) Yanuskiewicz.

He attended Ringtown High School and graduated from North Schuylkill High School in 1967. After high school, Victor attended McCann’s School of Business and became an accountant. He worked many years for Zapata’s, Stroehmann’s, and then Fabri-Kal until his retirement.

Victor was the biggest North Schuylkill sports fan, as he held the distinction of receiving the 1st all season’s sports pass each and every year. He also was an avid fan of the Phillies, Eagles, and Michigan Wolverines. When he wasn’t attending or watching his favorite teams, he loved taking a ride to the Tastee Freeze for an ice cream.

He is survived by his brother Michael Yanuskiewicz with his wife Bonnie of Chesapeake, VA, 2 nieces- Alyse Piper with her husband Ian of Virginia Beach, VA and Rachyl Yanuskiewicz of Kitty Hawk, NC, also his great nieces and nephew- Olivia, Ella, and Owen Piper.

A visitation for family and friends will take place on Thursday, July 17 from 8 to 10:30am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Scripture services will be conducted at 10:30am by Fr. Dominic Pham. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ringtown.

Contributions in Victor’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church, Ringtown, PA

Gloria E. Norcavage
, 80, of Shenandoah passed on Sunday night, July 13, 2025 in her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Shenandoah on July 9, 1945, she was a daughter of the late John and Elsie T. (Michalowski) Norcavage.

She was a 1963 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Earlier in life, Gloria was employed at the former Martin Shirt Factory, Shenandoah. Later, she worked as a retail clerk at the former K-Mart in the Schuylkill Mall, Frackville and then at the former Rite-Aid, Shenandoah until her retirement.

Gloria was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah and formerly held membership in Saint Casimir Parish and Saint George Parish. She was also a member of the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens and the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America.

She enjoyed visiting the casinos on bus trips, especially with her sisters. She also enjoyed the many other trips she traveled with the local senior organizations including the Golden Age of Mahanoy City. She was also an avid reader. Gloria took pleasure in a simple walk “up town” with her sister, Susan, and socializing with those they met along the way.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her sister, Joan M. Hobbs in 2002.

Surviving are three sisters, Patricia Whitecavage of Mahanoy City, Susan Supreme of Shenandoah and Kathleen Klein of Hellertown; her caregiver, Sherry Whitecavage of Eagle Rock; nieces and nephews with their families, cousins and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 10:00 am in Saint Casimir Church, 229 North Jardin Street, Shenandoah with Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in Saint Casimir Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at St. Casimir Church. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 30, Tamaqua, PA 18252-0030. Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor and Christopher L. Kowalski, Funeral Director are in care of the arrangements.

Hilda M. Offutt
, 92, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at home.

Born on July 11, 1933 in Wayne Twp., she was a daughter of the late John F. and Anna M. Jacobs Riegel.

She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven.

Hilda had worked at Richland Boot and Shoe Factory.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Lawton Offset; eleven brothers, Lester and wife Jennie, Wilmer and wife Catherine, Edgar and wife Josephine, Paul and wife Margaret, James and wife Dorothy, Guy, Claude and wife Elvena, Russell and wife Tess, Earl, Clayton and wife Gloria, Harold and wife Anna, and Robert Riegel; three sisters, Eva and husband Calvin Schappel, Grace and husband Roy Schaeffer, and Anna Eisenhauer.

Surviving are sister-in-law, Shirley Reigel, which whom she resided with for many years; nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at First United Church of Christ, 110 PA-61 S, Schuylkill Haven with Pastor Shawn Van Dyke officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.

The H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove is in charge of arrangements.
