Marian Catholic High School has officially launched a regional search for its next Head Girls’ Basketball Coach.
The move comes following the departure of Head Coach Damian Fritz, who led the Fillies from 2021 through the end of the 2025 season. Specific details on Fritz’s departure have not been disclosed.
Under Fritz's leadership, the Fillies compiled a 91-20 overall record and captured back-to-back District XI Championships in 2022 and 2023.
Now, the school is turning the page by forming a search committee tasked with identifying the next leader of the championship-caliber program. The committee is spearheaded by members of the Marian Catholic Board of Directors and notable Fillies alumnae, including Maria Montero, Esq. (Class of ’94) and Erin O’Gurek, Esq. (Class of ’03). Other committee members include Suzie Shimkus Connolly ’80, Gracia Perilli ’84, Diane Decker ’85, and Courtney Decker Tamagini ’08.
“For decades, the Marian Fillies have represented the gold standard in girls’ basketball across Pennsylvania,” the school said in a statement announcing the search. “Our goal is to find a transformational leader — someone who embraces the rich history of Marian basketball, values academic and athletic excellence, and can inspire the next generation of Fillies.”
The committee is conducting a broad search across Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region, seeking experienced coaching candidates with a passion for player development, competitive success, and the values Marian Catholic promotes.
Applications are being accepted through Friday, August 1, 2025. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a cover letter, resume, and three references either by mail or email:
