In a letter to the Marian Catholic community, Bishop Schlert expressed gratitude for the school’s supporters and confidence in its future.
“Thank you for your continued support of Marian, a Catholic high school vital to Schuylkill County,” Bishop Schlert wrote.
The Bishop reaffirmed Marian Catholic’s mission, emphasizing its commitment to Catholic identity. “Marian Catholic High School has one mission: to proclaim Jesus Christ, and His teachings as articulated by the Catholic Church. All academics, athletics, and social activities must be in service of this one Truth,” he said.
Bishop Schlert described Father Finlan as “an exemplary priest with seasoned experience as a Catholic Educator, Catholic High School Administrator, and Pastor,” adding, “I have every confidence in his abilities.”
A native of Ashland and graduate of Cardinal Brennan High School, Father Finlan holds a Master’s degree in Education. Throughout his priesthood, he has dedicated himself to parish ministry and Catholic education, bringing with him a deep understanding of the region’s faith and culture.
As principal, Father Finlan will lead Marian’s students, faculty, and families into what the Bishop called “a renewed chapter of solid Catholic education.”
Bishop Schlert closed his message with a blessing: “May Our Blessed Mother, who watches over Her school, guide our path forward and protect Marian.”
With new leadership in place, Marian Catholic High School enters the upcoming school year with hope, faith, and a strengthened commitment to Christ-centered education.
