
A 14-year-old boy from Pottsville is facing multiple felony charges after police say he was found carrying a stolen handgun during a block party Tuesday night.
According to the Pottsville Bureau of Police, officers were dispatched to the Rotary Playground in the 2000 block of West Norwegian Street at approximately 8:18 p.m. on August 12, 2025, for a report of a male with a gun. At the time, the area was crowded with residents attending the Yorkville Block Party.
When officers arrived, they located a male matching the description given by dispatch. During the investigation, police recovered a Hi-Point C9 9mm handgun from the teen’s possession. Authorities noted the gun’s serial number had been obliterated.
Police identified the suspect as a 14-year-old Pottsville resident. The juvenile was taken into custody, turned over to the Schuylkill County Juvenile Justice Department, and placed in a juvenile detention facility.
Further investigation determined the firearm had been reported stolen from a vehicle in Mechanicsville Borough.
The teen is charged with possession of a firearm with an altered manufacturer’s number (F2), receiving stolen property – firearm (F2), carrying a firearm without a license (F3), and possession of a firearm by a minor (M1).
No injuries were reported during the incident.
