Pottsville Woman Bit, Struck Officer During Arrest

Pottsville police say a woman is facing multiple charges after she allegedly caused a disturbance and assaulted an officer during an arrest early Saturday morning.
According to police, around 1:15 a.m. on August 16, 2025, officers were called to the 200 block of North 3rd Street for several reports of a woman yelling and throwing rocks at a residence.

A witness told officers that the woman, later identified as Cassidy Ann Ciccanti-Eiler, 20, of Pottsville, had been yelling at the home and demanding the occupant come outside.

Police located Ciccanti-Eiler a short distance away on West Race Street. When officers attempted to speak with her, police say she repeatedly walked away and ignored multiple commands to stop.

When officers attempted to detain her, Ciccanti-Eiler allegedly pulled her wrist away, then struck an officer in the groin with her knee and bit the officer on the shoulder, causing injury. Police say she continued to resist arrest before she was taken into custody.

Ciccanti-Eiler has been charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer (F2), Resisting Arrest (M2), and Disorderly Conduct (Summary).

She was arraigned before an on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $50,000 straight cash bail.

She remains locked up in prison as of this posting waiting for a preliminary hearing which is scheduled for August 25th, 2025 before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley
