Born in Ashland, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Coyne) Haas. She worked as a chef for Fountain Springs Country Club and Indian Hills before retiring.
Joan was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Ashland. She was a member of the Citizens Fire Company No. 1 in Gordon, the Ashland VFW 7654, the American Legion Post 434, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Social Club. She was once described as “Yuengling’s biggest fan” by Dick Yuengling himself. Joan enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, a good card game, and she was an avid animal lover. She told endless stories about all of her fun-filled adventures with her friends and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Panteleona John Catizone; her son, Anthony Catizone; a sister, Anne Felker; a grandson, Thomas Balsavage Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Patti Ann Catizone.
Joan is survived by her three daughters: Terese Catizone, Puerto Rico; Concetta Connell and her husband Chris, Palmyra; Kathryn Balsavage and her husband Tom, Girardville; a sister, Dorothy Haas, Puerto Rico; her six grandchildren: Conchetta Marucci and her husband Joe; William Catizone and his wife Kate; Whitney Peters and her husband Wesley; Shaina Habrack and her husband Chris; Christopher Connell Jr. and Kaitlyn Connell; her loving great-grandchildren: Joseph, Gary, Henry, Jack, Wrenly, Hayden and Walker; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday August 19th at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland with Fr. Guency Isaac, pastor, as the celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, 403 W. Main St., Girardville on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. Interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

James A. Anderson, Jr., husband, dad, pappy, 73 years of age of Whitehall, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at home while in the tender care of his family.
Born Tuesday, March 11, 1952 in Lancaster the son of the late James A. Anderson Sr. and Peggy (Fayash) Anderson.
Surviving are; his wife of 15 years, Anne M. (Tracy) Anderson; daughters, Tina O'Brien and her husband Sean, Tracey Stegemerten and her husband Chris; son, James A. Anderson, IV and his companion Taylor Kunkel; sisters, Cindy Gundling - Tucker wife of Carl, Sharon Noecker; grandchildren, Michael Salerno Jr. and his wife Kyrsten, Nicholas Salerno, Ethan O'Brien, Domonic Stegemerten, Grace Stegemerten, Lila Stegemerten, James A. Anderson V, Ava Anderson, Mia Anderson; great grandson, Luca Salerno. Jim has a large extended family who cared for him deeply.
A 1970 Tamaqua High School graduate, Jim recently retired as a bus driver for the Whitehall - Coplay School District after 18 years. Jim owned and operated James A. Anderson Construction of Brockton for many years. Jim had some great passions in his life which kept him busy. He was a lifelong avid hunter and fisherman who possessed great knowledge in both. Jim was a member of the Grouse Hall Fish and Game Club of Ironton, and the Moss Glenn Fishing Club of Brockton. He loved woodworking and working with his hands and had an eye for detail. He deeply adored his job as a bus driver. He took great pride in keeping his children safe while on his watch and had many stories to share. And a storyteller was he. He could tell a story like no other, usually ending in tears of laughter. He sincerely cherished his companionship with his wife, his children and grandchildren, and any other little ones in his life. He was a teacher of life and a mentor and friend to many. His presence with us will be greatly missed by all whose lives he intersected with. Jim enjoyed the companionship of his Beagle Beau.
We will see you in Heaven Dad, we love you.

Born in Pottsville, July 8, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Anna Docherty.
Denise attended St. Clair school and Pottsville High School. She went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Denise worked most of her career in geriatric and pediatric care.
She was talented and accomplished in sewing and needlework. She learned from a young age how to sew from her Godmother Betty.
Denise’s greatest love was for her grandchildren. She cherished being a grandmother to Nicholas and Valerie.
Denise was married to James Guy Wagner II who survives her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister and best friend Cheryl Frantz.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children: Brian Wagner, husband to Taryn of Alabama and daughter Jamie Wagner companion to Jason Huesman. She is also survived by grandchildren Nicholas and Valerie Wagner along with siblings; Donna Docherty, Francis “Pat” Docherty and Richard “Rick” Docherty.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at Grabowski Funeral Home in Schuylkill Haven at 11:00 A.M. A viewing will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Interment will follow on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
