State Police Seek Minersville Man Wanted on Multiple Charges



SCHUYLKILL COUNTY – The Pennsylvania State Police Troop L – Schuylkill Haven Station has issued an arrest warrant for 38-year-old David Joseph Tavares, of 28 Spruce Street, Minersville, who is wanted on numerous charges stemming from an incident on August 13th, 2025, in Pottsville involving fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
 

Tavares, 38, is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 250 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair. 

He faces a long list of charges, including:
  • Felony 3: Flight to avoid apprehension, trial, or punishment.
  • Misdemeanor 2: Fleeing or attempting to elude an officer; resisting arrest; obstructing governmental functions (two counts); and escape.
  • Misdemeanor 3: Defiant trespass (posted – purple marks).
  • Summary offenses: Following too closely; failure to obey traffic control devices; driving at an unsafe speed; failing to stop at a stop sign; careless driving; reckless driving; and restraint systems violation (more passengers than seatbelts).

There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Tavares.  Anyone caught helping him will be subject to criminal prosecution under section PA CC 5105.
