Frackville Woman Wanted After Explosive Devices Found in Garage

A Frackville woman is wanted after homemade incendiary devices were discovered inside a garage on North Broad Mountain Avenue.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, on Sunday, September 7, 2025, tenants of 14 North Broad Mountain Avenue reported finding explosives inside a cabinet in the garage. When officers arrived, they located a plastic container holding approximately seven incendiary devices, some of which had fuses attached and were wrapped with tape.

Investigators identified the property owner as Tarra Lee Gregis-Mowery, 46, of Frackville, who allegedly told tenants she had been making bombs and threatened to burn down or blow up the property. Tenants also reported she made repeated threats against them, as well as her estranged husband, his mother, and his current girlfriend.

Due to safety concerns, the FBI and Pennsylvania State Police Bomb Squad were called to the scene. A Special Agent Bomb Technician and State Police Bomb Technician removed the incendiary devices, along with a canister of smokeless gunpowder and several commercial-grade fireworks. Tests confirmed the powder was gunpowder, and X-rays later revealed nails taped to the devices intended to create shrapnel.

The affidavit states the threats and actions of Gregis-Mowery caused tenants to fear for their safety.

As a result of the investigation, police obtained a warrant for Gregis-Mowery’s arrest on the following charges:
  • Possession of Explosive or Incendiary Materials/Devices (Felony 3)
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person (Misdemeanor 2)
Frackville Police ask anyone with information on the whereabouts of Tarra Gregis-Mowery to contact their department.
