House Fire in Shenandoah Leaves Home Destroyed, Residents Displaced

A Saturday afternoon house fire in the 300 block of East Lloyd Street left a home destroyed and displaced three residents, according to Shenandoah Fire Chief Rick Examitas.
The call came in around 2:15 p.m., when emergency personnel were alerted to a house fire with possible entrapment. A large column of smoke was visible as crews responded, and upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a working fire with the rear of the home fully involved.

A second alarm was struck, bringing in additional manpower and equipment as crews battled the flames. Firefighters worked for nearly two hours before bringing the fire under control.

Chief Examitas reported that while the home is considered a total loss, all residents safely escaped the blaze. The Red Cross is assisting the three displaced individuals. No injuries were reported.

The fire also impacted pets inside the home. Of the five cats reported, two made it out safely, while three are believed to have perished.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but initial findings indicate it started at the rear of the structure.

Firefighters from multiple companies responded to the scene and remained on site for overhaul.
