PennDOT Announces Upcoming Road Work in Schuylkill County

Schuylkill County motorists should be prepared for two upcoming road projects that will cause temporary lane restrictions in West Penn and Rush Townships.

West Penn Township – Pothole Patching on West Penn Pike

PennDOT maintenance forces will conduct pothole patching on West Penn Pike (Route 309) between South Tamaqua and Snyders beginning Monday, September 15, 2025.

• Schedule: Daily, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
• Restrictions: Lane closures will be in place while crews are working.
• Estimated Completion: Friday, September 19, 2025

Rush Township – Milling and Paving on PA 54

A larger PennDOT contractor project is set to begin a day earlier, Sunday, September 14, 2025, on PA 54 between Apple Lane and Ye Old Hauto Road. Work will continue through October 31, 2025.

• Schedule & Restrictions:
• Daytime (7:00 AM – 6:00 PM): From Apple Street to Marian High School Road and Ardmore Avenue to Ye Old Hauto Road.
• Nighttime (7:00 PM – 6:00 AM): From Marian High School to Ardmore Road.
• Lane restrictions will be controlled by flagging during both daytime and nighttime operations.
• Estimated Completion: October 31, 2025
