State Police have charged 38-year-old Joshua John Mooney, of Ashland, following an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of September 22, 2025, in the parking lot of Boyer’s Food Market.
Troopers were dispatched to the store shortly before 1:00 a.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, police located Mooney standing beside his vehicle. According to the affidavit, Mooney told officers his girlfriend was behind the store, and that they had been looking through dumpsters for discarded items.
When asked for identification, Mooney allegedly provided the name “Joshua Stevens.” Police say a records check showed no such individual existed. He was taken into custody and, while being transported to the State Police barracks in Frackville, he reportedly admitted his true identity and stated he had outstanding warrants.
Authorities later confirmed Mooney was wanted on a warrant issued in Saint Clair for making terroristic threats and also on a Schuylkill County bench warrant for failure to appear in court.
As a result of the incident, Mooney has been charged with the following offenses:
- False Identification to Law Enforcement Officer (Misdemeanor 3)
- Intentional Possession of a Controlled Substance by a Person Not Registered (Misdemeanor)
- Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor)
