Suspects Wearing Dark Clothing, Rubber Boots, and Face Coverings Caught at Closed Schuylkill County Gas Station

Two men from Berks County are behind bars after Pennsylvania State Police say they were found outside a closed gas station in Schuylkill County early Tuesday morning, allegedly equipped with burglary tools.
According to court documents, Julian Malik Amway, 23, of Temple, PA, and Jaden Alexander Morgan, 22, of Reading, PA, were taken into custody by PSP Frackville troopers around 2:20 a.m. on October 21st. Both men have been charged with Burglary, Theft by Unlawful Taking, Possession of Instruments of Crime, and Loitering and Prowling at Night Time.

Incident Details

Troopers on routine patrol spotted a black SUV backed up near the front doors of Grutza’s Gas Station, located along Route 54 in Mahanoy Township. When police turned around to check, they found the SUV parked at a nearby dead end with only its daytime running lights on.

Inside the vehicle, troopers encountered Amway and Morgan dressed in all-black clothing, including rubber boots, rubber gloves sealed with tape, and face coverings. Police also noted the driver had a ski mask and the passenger was wearing glasses.

Authorities say the SUV’s trunk contained a steel cable, large sledgehammer, and pry bar, with the back seat folded down to accommodate the equipment. The vehicle, identified as a black Audi Q7, carried a Pennsylvania registration plate belonging to another car, while its inspection sticker had been covered with black tape.

Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to PSP Frackville for processing.
