Shenandoah Valley Names October Student of the Month: Jasmin Hurtado Olayo

Shenandoah Valley Jr./Sr. High School has announced senior Jasmin Hurtado Olayo as its October Student of the Month.
Hurtado Olayo, a Shenandoah resident, has earned a reputation as a motivated student, active volunteer, and positive role model among her peers.

Jasmin’s community service involvement spans several programs and organizations.

She has volunteered at the Spartan Games, assists her church in preparing food bags for homeless individuals, and works with the Little Devils Big Goals program, where she helps younger students with academic support.

Her compassion extends even further as she volunteers and raises funds for 4 Diamonds, supporting pediatric cancer initiatives.

At Shenandoah Valley, Jasmin is active in a wide range of school organizations. She is a member of the National Honor Society, serves as Secretary of the Arts Honor Society, is Class President, and participates in Student Council, the Diversity Club, and the Community Engagement Club.

In athletics, she is Captain of the Varsity Girls Soccer Team and also competes in Track and Field and Cross Country. Her hard work and character have also earned her recognition as a Horatio Alger Scholarship recipient.

Outside of school, Jasmin enjoys playing soccer, baking and reading with her sisters, and exploring new places. She balances school and extracurriculars with two jobs, determined to save for college and build a strong foundation for her future.

Jasmin plans to pursue a career as a pediatric nurse, with the goal of becoming the first in her family to graduate from college — a milestone she is proud to work toward.

Shenandoah Valley staff say her work ethic, leadership, and compassion make her a standout choice for Student of the Month.

Congratulations to Jasmin Hurtado Olayo on this well-deserved honor!
