GIRLS BASKETBALL: Tamaqua Controls Schuylkill League Division 1 Matchup with Pottsville


In a key Schuylkill League Division 1 showdown on Tuesday night, the Tamaqua Lady Raiders used defeated visiting Pottsville Area, 44–22.
Tamaqua set the tone early, jumping out to a 10–4 lead after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 24–9 at halftime. The Raiders continued to dictate the tempo in the second half, holding Pottsville to single digits in every quarter.

Lauren Ligenza delivered a strong double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, helping Tamaqua control the interior. Millie Black matched that effort, posting a double-double of her own with a game-high 15 points and 10 rebounds. Leah Black dominated the glass as well, grabbing 13 rebounds to support Tamaqua’s inside strength.

Kendle Miller contributed 13 points—including one three-pointer—while Leah Black added 6 for the Raiders.

Pottsville was led by Jo Barnhart’s 9 points, including a three-pointer. Jess Siminitus added 5 points, while Lauren Brennan chipped in 3.

Three-point field goals included one each from Tamaqua’s Miller and Pottsville’s Brennan, Barnhart, and Siminitus.

With the win, Tamaqua improves to 3–2 on the season. The Lady Raiders continue their Schuylkill League Division 1 schedule on Thursday travel to Blue Mountain for another Schuylkill League Division 1 game. Pottsville falls to 1–3 and looks to regroup and will host Schuylkill Haven on Friday.
