WRESTLING: North Schuylkill Rolls Past Tamaqua in Schuylkill League Division 1 Match

North Schuylkill delivered a dominant performance on Thursday night defeating Tamaqua 57-17 in a Schuylkill League Division 1 boys wrestling match at Tamaqua Area High School.

Entering the meet with a 5-2 overall record and a 1-0 mark in Division 1, the Spartans controlled the match from the opening bout, capitalizing on multiple forfeits and recording several falls to secure their second league victory of the season. Tamaqua, still winless at 0-5, was competing in its first Schuylkill League match of the year.

North Schuylkill jumped out to an early lead with forfeits at 107 pounds by Gaige Mentusky and at 114 by Evan Miernicki. At 121 pounds, Tamaqua’s Rylan Reitz earned an 18-0 technical fall over North Schuylkill’s Stanley Padakowski at 5:34, giving the Raiders their first points of the night.

The Spartans quickly regained momentum with additional forfeits at 127, 133, and 139 pounds, extending their lead. North Schuylkill then took control of the middle and upper weights, beginning with Bode Gates pinning Francis Hill at 145 pounds in 1:06.

At 152 pounds, Kaden Tavares posted a 7-0 decision over Evan Temarantz, followed by Bryce Kile pinning Troy Hartman at 160 in 1:44. Benjamin Carr added another fall at 172 pounds, pinning Angelo Cerimele in 1:06.

Connor Dower received a forfeit at 189 pounds before Cadyn McGraw pinned Dylan Garcia at 215 pounds in 3:39 to push the Spartans past the 50-point mark. Tamaqua closed the night at heavyweight, where William Behun pinned David Martinez in 2:38 to account for the Raiders’ final points.

North Schuylkill won 10 of the 13 bouts, including five forfeits, four pins, and one decision, while Tamaqua recorded three wins on the evening.

North Schuylkill will return to action on Monday, December 22, 2025, when it hosts Pine Grove. Tamaqua will travel to Schuylkill Haven on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, for its next Schuylkill League meet.
