North Schuylkill entered the game 6–0 in league play and sitting atop Division 1, while Tamaqua came in right behind them at 5–1. What followed was a tightly contested, back-and-forth battle that went beyond regulation before the Lady Raiders secured the statement win.
North Schuylkill came out strong, jumping to a 12–4 lead after the first quarter behind hot shooting from Mya Conti and Addisyn Balicki. Tamaqua responded in the second quarter, closing the gap with a 14-point frame led by Lauren Ligenza and Millie Black to make it 21–18 at halftime.
The two teams traded baskets in the third quarter, with North Schuylkill clinging to a 32–27 edge heading into the final period. Tamaqua surged again in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Spartans 14–9 to force overtime tied at 41–41.
In the extra period, Tamaqua’s defense took over. The Lady Raiders limited North Schuylkill to just two points in overtime while Ligenza and Kendle Miller helped push Tamaqua across the finish line for the 46–43 win.
Ligenza was dominant for Tamaqua, recording a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Millie Black added 13 points, while Miller chipped in six. Leah Black and Ceanna Gormley provided key contributions at the foul line and on the glass.
North Schuylkill was led by Mya Conti’s 18 points, including two three-pointers. Addisyn Balicki scored nine, Gianna Capone added eight, and Jadelin Stitzer also finished with eight.
Tamaqua connected on two three-pointers from Kendle Miller, while North Schuylkill hit four from beyond the arc, including two by Conti.
With the win, Tamaqua improves to 10-3 overall and strengthens its hold near the top of Division 1. North Schuylkill falls to 7-4 overall and 6-1 in league play, setting up an even tighter race for the Division 1 title.
