Victor Manuel Lantigua-Gutierrez, 40, who is considered homeless, was charged by Shenandoah Police Department with Burglary – Overnight Accommodations; Person Present (F1) and Criminal Trespass – Break Into Structure (F2). The incident occurred on Thursday, January 8, 2026.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, police were dispatched at approximately 1:46 a.m. to a residence in the 100 block of North White Street for a reported breaking and entering. Officers made contact with the homeowner who reported that children visiting the home went into the kitchen to get food and noticed the rear mudroom door was open.
The children reportedly observed a male they knew as Victor Manuel Lantigua-Gutierrez standing inside the mudroom. The victim identified Lantigua-Gutierrez as her former boyfriend. The children allegedly begged him not to hurt them before running upstairs to a bedroom. Lantigua-Gutierrez then fled the residence.
The victim told police she later noticed a knife on the dining room table that did not belong to her and had not been there earlier in the evening. Officers also observed that indoor and outdoor security cameras appeared to have been repositioned, with one pointed toward the ceiling and another angled toward the roof. The victim stated she did not move the cameras and that the rear door had been locked prior to the incident, indicating it was opened without permission.
Lantigua-Gutierrez was taken into custody Thursday evening and later arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bail.
He remains incarcerated, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for January 29, 2026 before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker.
