Minersville Teen Charged in Christmas Eve Burglary at Minersville Loft

MINERSVILLE - A Minersville teen is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a reported burglary at the Minersville Loft on Christmas Eve, according to police.

Elijah Hunter Kocevar, 18, of Minersville, was charged by the Minersville Police Department in connection with an incident that occurred on December 24, 2025.

Kocevar is charged with felony counts of burglary—overnight accommodations with a person present and bodily injury crime, and criminal trespass—break into structure, along with misdemeanor charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, police were dispatched to the Minersville Loft, located in the Geisinger building, for a reported burglary not in progress. Upon arrival, officers were directed to the second floor, where employees reported that multiple offices had been rummaged through, leaving papers and personal belongings scattered throughout the area. Personal lockers and bins belonging to residents of the building had also been disturbed.

Employees provided police with screenshots and security footage showing Kocevar inside the building’s foyer at approximately 9:39 p.m. on December 24. Police noted that Kocevar was known to the officer from prior incidents.

Security video reportedly shows Kocevar entering the vestibule, pulling on several secured doors, and gaining access through a card-controlled door. He then used an elevator to reach the second floor, where he was observed rummaging through offices, lockers, and compartments. Kocevar returned to the vestibule and then went back to the second floor before being captured on video leaving the building around 10:31 p.m.
