PennDOT Schedules Pothole Patching Projects Across Schuylkill County


PennDOT has announced multiple pothole patching projects scheduled to take place across Schuylkill County beginning Monday, February 2, 2026.
All work will be performed by PennDOT maintenance forces and is not expected to be delayed by weather conditions.

Interstate 81 South – Foster and Frailey Townships

Pothole patching will take place on Interstate 81 South between Exit 119 (Highridge Park Road) and Exit 107 (U.S. 209).

  • Traffic Impact: Southbound lane restriction

  • Work Dates: February 2 through February 5, 2026

  • Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily

Motorists traveling through the area should expect slowdowns during work hours.

Main Street – Butler and West Mahanoy Townships

Pothole patching is also scheduled along Main Street between Girardville and Gilberton.

  • Traffic Impact: Lane restrictions with flagging

  • Work Dates: February 2 through February 6, 2026

  • Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily

Drivers should be prepared for alternating traffic patterns and brief delays.

PA Route 309 – Rush Township

Additional pothole repairs will be conducted on PA Route 309 between McAdoo and Hometown.

  • Traffic Impact: Lane restriction

  • Work Dates: February 2 through February 6, 2026

  • Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily

PennDOT advises motorists to use caution when traveling through active work zones, remain alert for workers and equipment, and allow extra travel time during daytime hours.
