Dispute Over $3,000 Tax Refund Leads to Strangulation, Assault Charges in Orwigsburg

An Orwigsburg woman is facing multiple felony charges following an early morning domestic incident in the borough.

Tiffany Nicole Fisher, 25, of Orwigsburg, has been charged by Orwigsburg Borough Police with:

  • Felony 1 – Aggravated Assault (Attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference)
  • Felony 2 – Strangulation (Applying pressure to throat or neck)
  • Misdemeanor 2 – Simple Assault
  • Summary – Harassment (Subject other to physical contact)

According to court documents, officers were dispatched at approximately 1:59 a.m. on February 27, 2026, to the 200 block of Long Avenue in Orwigsburg for a reported physical domestic incident.

Police said the dispute stemmed from an earlier argument between Fisher and another woman regarding travel plans and a $3,000 tax refund that had been deposited into Fisher’s bank account. The other woman reportedly wanted access to the funds in order to purchase a vehicle, but Fisher allegedly refused to transfer the money at that time.

Investigators say the argument escalated into a physical altercation inside the residence. The alleged victim told police she was pushed off a bed and struck multiple times in the head. She further reported that Fisher grabbed her by the throat and applied pressure, making it difficult for her to breathe for several seconds.

According to the affidavit, the altercation continued into a hallway where the alleged victim was nearly pushed down a staircase while attempting to leave. She later secured herself inside a bedroom and called 911.

Police documented a laceration to the right side of the alleged victim’s neck, swelling to a thumb, and multiple bumps on the back of her head. Broken eyeglasses were also reported during the incident. Officers photographed the injuries.

Fisher told police the argument became physical when the other woman allegedly lunged for her wallet. Court documents state Fisher admitted to causing injuries while attempting to remove the other woman from her room. She also told police she used a butter knife to unlock a bedroom door after the other woman locked herself inside.

Fisher was taken into custody and arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli. Bail was set at $10,000 straight cash, and she was committed to Schuylkill County Prison.

Fisher remains incarcerated. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 31, 2026.
