Pottsville Police: Wanted Man Apprehended After Foot Chase

A wanted man was taken into custody early Thursday morning following a foot pursuit through the City of Pottsville, according to Pottsville Police.
Police say the incident occurred around 12:15 a.m. on March 27, 2026, when an officer on routine patrol observed Jason Able-Lewis in the 300 block of East Arch Street. Able-Lewis was reportedly wanted after failing to report to prison following sentencing in October 2025.

Upon spotting the officer, Able-Lewis allegedly fled on foot, prompting a pursuit through several city streets. According to police, the chase continued east on East Arch Street to North George Street, then north on North George Street to East Race Street. Able-Lewis then turned onto East Race Street and continued south to Line Street.

Authorities say Able-Lewis ran through a parking lot north of CVS before being apprehended at taser point by the pursuing officer and assisting units on the sidewalk along Claude A. Lord Boulevard.

As a result of the incident, northbound lanes of Claude A. Lord Boulevard were temporarily shut down for approximately 10 minutes.

Able-Lewis was taken into custody and committed to Schuylkill County Prison. In addition to being held on multiple warrants, he is now facing additional charges, including Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot (M2) and Flight to Avoid Apprehension, Trial or Punishment (F3).
