Power Outage Reported in Orwigsburg Area

A power outage impacting parts of the Orwigsburg area was reported Saturday morning, leaving hundreds of residents without electricity and prompting traffic control measures along Route 61.

According to PPL, as of 10:15 a.m., approximately 500 customers are affected by the outage. The breakdown includes 14 customers in Orwigsburg Borough and 486 customers in West Brunswick Township.

As a result of the outage, traffic signals along Route 61 in the area are not functioning. Fire police have been dispatched to key intersections to direct traffic and ensure safety for motorists traveling through the corridor.

Drivers are urged to use caution while passing through the affected areas.

The cause of the outage is due to downed power lines in the area of 218 Fork Mountain Road in West Brunswick Township.

PPL is on the way to the scene.  There is no time frame yet on when power will be restored.
