Schuylkill County has been issued a Tornado Watch by the National Weather Service for Wednesday evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Schuylkill County and several surrounding areas in central Pennsylvania until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.The watch means conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, damaging winds, and large hail across the region.
Schuylkill County is one of 15 counties now included in the extended watch area. Other counties listed include Adams, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Snyder, Union, and York.
A tornado watch does not mean a tornado has been spotted, but rather that atmospheric conditions are capable of producing tornadoes. Residents should stay alert for rapidly changing weather conditions throughout the afternoon and evening.
