The event will honor alumni, faculty, and supporters whose dedication, leadership, and service have had a lasting impact on the school and the Marian community.
Father Robert Finlan ’86, CBHS, Principal of Marian Catholic High School, said the annual event highlights individuals whose lives exemplify the mission and spirit of the school.
“We look forward to the Marian family gathering on Saturday, May 2nd to honor six remarkable individuals whose lives and legacies have shaped the spirit of Marian Catholic High School in profound ways,” Finlan said. “Together, they represent the heart and soul of Marian. Their stories are not just of achievement, but of impact—leaving a lasting imprint on the lives of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the entire Marian family.”
2026 Marian Catholic Hall of Fame Inductees
Janet L. BonenbergerJanet L. Bonenberger has been a strong supporter of Marian Catholic High School through leadership and philanthropy. Though she did not attend the school, she proudly considers herself part of the Marian family.
Bonenberger and her husband, Bill Bonenberger ’76, are founders and owners of W.B. Homes, Inc., a real estate development firm based in Montgomery County. Since joining Marian’s Board of Directors in 2019, she has played a key role in strengthening the school’s financial future.
She helped reestablish the school’s Advancement Office, rebranded annual giving as the Marian Fund, and created the 1954 Legacy Society. Bonenberger also introduced Marian to Business Leaders Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS), expanding participation in Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program and increasing tuition assistance opportunities.
Bonenberger said she feels honored to support Marian’s mission.
“Though I grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs and never had the opportunity to attend Marian, I feel blessed to have been adopted into this incredible family,” she said. “I have seen firsthand how a Catholic education shapes young men and women of faith, discipline, and service.”
Joseph Svetik ’67
Joseph Svetik ’67 spent his career in the financial services industry, building a reputation for leadership in banking operations, risk management, and strategic growth.In 2013, he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers Hall of Fame. Since 2014, he has served as Director and Treasurer of JTNB Bancorp and The Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank. Svetik is also a retired Certified Public Accountant.
During his time at Marian, he participated in numerous activities including Forensics, the Dance Committee, Prom Committee, bowling, golf, track, and weightlifting. He worked at the Acme store in Jim Thorpe to help pay his tuition.
Svetik graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in accounting and a minor in economics. He and his wife, Rosemarie Friel Svetik ’69, have been married for more than 54 years.
“Marian taught me discipline, responsibility, and the value of hard work,” Svetik said. “Working to pay my tuition made my education even more meaningful.”
Rev. Msgr. Daniel J. Yenushosky, V.G. ’69
Rev. Msgr. Daniel J. Yenushosky ’69 currently serves as Vicar General of the Diocese of Allentown and pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in Whitehall.Originally from Tamaqua, he studied at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia and Mary Immaculate Seminary in Northampton before being ordained to the priesthood.
In 1995, he received Papal Honors and the title of Monsignor.
At Marian, Yenushosky was involved in the Yearbook, Art Club, and Social Action Club and also earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
“My years at Marian were formative in my vocation,” he said. “Marian helped lay the foundation for my life of priestly service.”
Ann Witcofsky Guth ’80
Ann Witcofsky Guth ’80 demonstrated leadership and involvement during her time at Marian, serving as a Homeroom Representative and Yearbook Editor while participating in the Senior Play, French Honor Society, National Honor Society, Prom Committee, Pep Club, and several athletic teams.Originally from Tamaqua, Guth later spent 40 years working for IBM as a software developer and technical architect before retiring.
She has also been active in her community, serving on parochial school boards and organizing fundraising events for Catholic schools attended by her children in Connecticut.
“Marian gave me lifelong friendships, confidence, and a strong foundation of faith,” Guth said.
Susan Yacapsin McGorry ’84
Susan Yacapsin McGorry ’84 has built a career in Catholic higher education.She currently serves as Assistant Provost for Assessment and Accreditation and Professor of Business at DeSales University, where she focuses on academic excellence and student-centered learning. Earlier in her career, she worked with Chase Manhattan Bank, AT&T, and UNESCO in France.
McGorry earned her MBA and Ph.D. from Lehigh University and completed post-doctoral work at MIT. She is also a peer evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
During her time at Marian, she was involved in Student Government, French and National Honor Societies, Youth Corps, track, and cheerleading.
“Marian instilled in me a deep sense of faith, purpose, and service,” McGorry said.
John “Jack” Huber
John “Jack” Huber devoted 29 years to Marian Catholic High School as a mathematics teacher, mentor, and activities coordinator.
Throughout his career, he helped educate thousands of students and was known for his dedication to tutoring and supporting students outside the classroom.
Huber led the Math Tutoring Club, worked in guidance counseling, drove the after-school activities bus, and served as a press box spotter at athletic events. He also organized the annual Faculty and Staff Spaghetti Dinner, which raised funds for tuition assistance.
Huber and his wife, Marcella Mazur Huber, sent all six of their children to Marian.
“Marian was never just a job — it was a family,” Huber said.
About the Hall of Fame
Marian Catholic High School established its Hall of Fame in 2023 to recognize alumni, faculty, staff, and special supporters who exemplify the school’s mission through lifetime achievement and service.
The honor also recognizes individuals connected to Marian’s legacy schools, including Saint Ann’s High School, Saint Jerome’s High School, Saint Mary’s High School, and Mauch Chunk Catholic High School.
The May 2 celebration will begin with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by a catered dinner and induction ceremony at 6:45 p.m.
In addition to the Hall of Fame inductees, John P. Lavelle Jr., Esq. ’81 of Bryn Mawr and Sophie A. Kozuch Cuthbertson, Esq. ’91 of McLean, Virginia will receive the 2026 Distinguished Alumnus Award.
