PennDOT Announces Pothole Patching Work on PA 309 and I-81 in Schuylkill County

Motorists traveling through parts of Schuylkill County should be prepared for lane restrictions this week as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) conducts pothole patching on two major roadways.

According to PennDOT, maintenance crews will begin work Monday, April 13, 2026, on Route 309 in West Penn Township. The project will take place between Blue Mountain Drive and the Borough of Tamaqua. Lane restrictions with flagging will be in place during daytime hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through Friday, April 17. Drivers should expect minor delays in the area.

Additional pothole patching is scheduled on Interstate 81 northbound between Exit 134 (Delano) and Exit 138 (Route 309), spanning Delano and Kline Townships. That work will begin Tuesday, April 14, and continue through Thursday, April 16. A northbound lane restriction will be in effect during the same daytime hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
