An Ashland man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after police say he violated Megan’s Law requirements and engaged in inappropriate contact with a juvenile.
According to court documents, Andrew Bakerofskie, 35, of Ashland, was charged by Ashland Police Chief Gerard Daley following an investigation into suspicious activity involving a registered sex offender and a juvenile girl.
Police were initially called after concerns were raised about Bakerofskie, who is listed on Megan’s Law, allegedly interacting with a minor. During the investigation, officers learned the juvenile had been communicating with and spending time with Bakerofskie since early March 2026 after reportedly meeting him at a birthday party.
Authorities say Bakerofskie had been staying at multiple residences, including locations on West Centre Street and Brock Street, but failed to properly report his living arrangements as required under Megan’s Law. Police also allege he failed to register a vehicle he had been operating.
During an interview with police, the juvenile reported multiple encounters with Bakerofskie and provided access to her phone, which contained text and social media messages between the two. Investigators say the messages included inappropriate and suggestive language.
The affidavit also alleges that Bakerofskie had physical contact with the juvenile on multiple occasions.
As a result of the investigation, Bakerofskie has been charged with:
- Failure to Verify Address/Be Photographed (Felony 3)
- Corruption of Minors (Misdemeanor 1)
Bakerofskie was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $100,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is expected to be scheduled at a later date. All charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
