An arrest warrant has been issued for an Ashland man accused of violating Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law requirements.
According to court documents, Craig Hardy, 66, last known address in Ashland, was charged by Ashland Police Chief Gerard Daley with one count of Failure to Verify Address/Be Photographed, a third-degree felony.
The charge stems from an investigation initiated after police noticed the residence listed for Hardy at 1227 Walnut Street in Ashland was vacant during patrol on May 4th, 2026.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, neighbors told investigators that Hardy and his girlfriend had been evicted from the residence months earlier. District Court records reportedly confirmed an eviction hearing had taken place on November 3rd, 2025.
Police said Hardy’s last Megan’s Law verification date was November 11th, 2025.
During the investigation, Daley contacted Pennsylvania State Police Megan’s Law officials, who requested an investigation after determining Hardy was allegedly in violation of registration requirements.
Investigators also reportedly received information that Hardy may have moved back to New York.
Court documents state Hardy is registered in Pennsylvania as an out-of-state offender stemming from a 1985 rape conviction in New York.
A warrant has since been issued for Hardy’s arrest.
