Berks County Police Officer Killed in Line of Duty While Responding to Call



The Central Berks Regional Police Department has announced that Officer Kristen Yeager was killed in the line of duty while responding to a call on Friday, May 29, 2026.
In a statement released early Saturday, the department announced that Officer Yeager died in a crash while responding to a call Friday evening.

"Officer Yeager served our community with courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication," the department said. "She answered the call to protect and serve each day, placing the safety of others above her own."

The department described Yeager as a dedicated officer whose commitment to her badge, fellow officers, and the citizens she served will never be forgotten.

Details surrounding the crash that claimed Officer Yeager's life have not yet been released.

The Central Berks Regional Police Department provides 24-hour police coverage to Lower Alsace Township, Mount Penn Borough, Oley Township, and St. Lawrence Borough in Berks County. The department consists of 21 sworn officers and one civilian employee serving more than 13,000 residents across a 30-square-mile area.
