The Schuylkill County 250th Celebration Parade Committee has announced plans for a countywide celebration in downtown Pottsville on June 26 and 27, 2026, highlighted by a grand parade honoring America's semiquincentennial.
The committee is encouraging all 67 municipalities in Schuylkill County, along with school districts, fire companies, nonprofit organizations, civic groups, and local businesses, to participate in the historic event.
"This is a historic moment for our country and our community," the committee said in a statement. "We encourage everyone across Schuylkill County to be part of this unforgettable celebration as we come together to honor 250 years of American independence."
The festivities will begin on Friday, June 26, with an exclusive kickoff party at the Capitol Deck in downtown Pottsville. The event will feature an All-American picnic-style menu with food and beverages and will be limited to 200 guests. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display to officially launch the weekend celebration.
The centerpiece of the celebration will be the Schuylkill County 250th Celebration Parade on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at 18th Street and travel through downtown Pottsville before concluding at Alvernia University Pottsville CollegeTowne. The parade is scheduled to run until approximately 1 p.m.
Following the parade, attendees can continue the celebration at Alvernia University, where a variety of family-friendly activities and entertainment will be offered throughout the afternoon.

Organizers say the event will provide communities throughout Schuylkill County with an opportunity to showcase their pride, creativity, and patriotism while celebrating America's past, present, and future.
