WEATHER ALERT: Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Schuylkill County

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Schuylkill County and much of central and eastern Pennsylvania through Wednesday evening as forecasters warn conditions are favorable for damaging storms later today.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch, issued by the National Weather Service, remains in effect until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and includes Schuylkill County along with 17 other Pennsylvania counties.

According to forecasters, strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening, with the greatest threat window for Schuylkill County currently expected between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The strongest storms could bring damaging wind gusts, torrential rainfall, frequent lightning, and hail. Isolated power outages and downed trees may also be possible if severe storms move through the area.

  • Huntingdon
  • Juniata
  • Lancaster
  • Lebanon

  • York
