Bomb Threat Forces Evacuation of Boyer's Food Market in Ashland; Store Deemed Safe

 


Customers and employees at Boyer's Food Market in Ashland were evacuated Monday evening after a bomb threat was called into the store, according to Ashland Police Chief Gerard Daley.

Police were dispatched to Boyer's Food Market, located at 150 East Centre Street, at approximately 5:03 p.m. on June 22 after an employee received a threatening telephone call reporting a bomb threat.

Authorities immediately evacuated all patrons and employees from the store while emergency personnel conducted a search of the building.

According to Chief Daley, two separate safety checks of the store were completed and no threats or suspicious devices were found. The store was subsequently deemed safe.

Ashland Police were assisted at the scene by Butler Township Police and a Pennsylvania State Police K-9 unit.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident in an effort to identify the individual responsible for making the call.

No injuries were reported.
