The crash occurred around 1:26 a.m. on June 21, 2026, on Fountain Road near the Interstate 81 overpass.
According to state police, a 50-year-old, Kevin Barry, of Tremont was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Fountain Road while responding to a brush fire call. At the same time, 26-year-old, Lane Rehrig, of Pine Grove was traveling northbound in a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria.
Police said the Barry's truck was parked along the roadway with blue emergency lights, which were activated as Rehring was fleeing the scene of the bush party. The party parcipants allegedly though the responding firemen were police and began to scatter.
As Rehrig fled, he allegedly failed to see the Silverado in time to stop. The vehicle struck nearly head-on.
State police determined that the Crown Victoria driver should have had sufficient time to avoid the collision.
Barry suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported by EMS for further evaluation. The Rehrig also sustained suspected minor injuries but declined medical treatment at the scene.
Police identified the crash as DUI-related. Rehrig was cited for driving under the influence and careless driving, according to the report.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene following the crash.
