The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Mark Thompson, 51, of Ashland, was sentenced Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, by Senior United States District Judge Robert D. Mariani to 21 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
Thompson previously pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
According to U.S. Attorney Brian D. Miller, Thompson admitted that from January 2025 through approximately April 25, 2025, he conspired with others in Schuylkill County to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute approximately 28 grams of methamphetamine.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Shenandoah Police Department, and the Schuylkill County District Attorney's Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney James M. Buchanan prosecuted the case.
Federal officials said the prosecution was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the U.S. Department of Justice's nationwide initiative that coordinates federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement efforts to combat violent crime and improve public safety.
The Department of Justice said PSN, which is a component of Operation Take Back America, focuses on rapid federal responses to violent crime, strong partnerships among law enforcement agencies, and holding offenders accountable through prosecution of serious criminal offenses.
