Lancaster County Woman Accused of Assaulting Grandmother, Resisting Arrest in Schuylkill County

A Lancaster County woman is facing a felony aggravated assault charge and several additional offenses after Mahanoy City Police say she assaulted her grandmother during a domestic disturbance, resisted arrest and caused damage to both a residence and the borough police station.
Quianna Renee Wilson, 23, of Lancaster, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, two counts of institutional vandalism, harassment, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and reckless endangerment following the incident on July 10. She remains incarcerated in Schuylkill County Prison after being unable to post $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 23 before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, officers were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of West Maple Street at approximately 10 p.m. for a reported physical domestic disturbance involving Wilson and her grandmother.

Upon arrival, officers reported hearing Wilson screaming from an upstairs bedroom. Police entered the home and made contact with Wilson, who allegedly refused repeated commands to come downstairs, shouted obscenities and continued throwing items around the room.

The complaint alleges Wilson attempted to leave through another bedroom rather than comply with officers' instructions. As police escorted her toward the stairs, she allegedly pulled away from officers, knocked over a dresser, punched a bedroom door off its hinges and threw the dresser onto the floor.

Police said officers ultimately had to physically remove Wilson from the residence. She allegedly resisted being handcuffed by refusing to give officers her hands, requiring several officers to restrain her before placing her into custody.

While being transported to the Mahanoy City Police Department, Wilson allegedly attempted to kick out the patrol vehicle's door. Once inside a holding cell, police said she continued acting aggressively, kicking and slamming the cell door, causing damage to the holding cell.

After securing Wilson, officers returned to the residence to interview the victim, who told police Wilson had been staying with her for several days but had recently been told she would need to leave due to destructive behavior inside the home.

According to the complaint, the victim said Wilson became angry after being confronted and began screaming at her before physically attacking her. She told police Wilson first struck her with closed fists before attempting to gouge her eyes, causing an injury to her right eye.

The victim told investigators she attempted to defend herself by covering her face and wrestling Wilson to the floor, but Wilson allegedly continued the assault. Police said Wilson grabbed a full-length mirror, smashed it against her with enough force to shatter the glass, then picked up a shard and struck her in the face and neck.

The victim suffered scratches to the left side of her face and neck, abrasions to both knees and an injury to her right eye, according to the complaint.

Police also allege Wilson damaged a television and two interior doors during the incident.

Wilson was arraigned in the early morning hours of July 11 before on-duty Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli, who set monetary bail at $25,000. Court records show she was unable to post bail and was committed to Schuylkill County Prison pending her preliminary hearing.
