Ringtown Man Charged with Aggravated Assault After Allegedly Swinging Axe During Dispute

A Ringtown man is facing felony assault charges after Pennsylvania State Police say he swung an axe during a confrontation with two people last month.
According to court documents, Charles C. Plenskofski, 55, of Ringtown, has been charged by  the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville following an incident that occurred on June 8, 2026, at a residence on East Main Street in Ringtown.

Troopers were called to the home around 11:05 p.m. for a report of an assault. According to the affidavit of probable cause, two people told investigators that Plenskofski became upset after they asked him to turn down music, leading to a verbal altercation.

Police said Plenskofski followed one of the individuals back to his front door, where an argument continued. Investigators allege Plenskofski then returned with an axe from inside his residence and approached the two people.

The victims told police that Plenskofski swung the axe during the confrontation. One victim told investigators he was able to block the axe with his hand, causing a minor laceration to his right hand. The second victim reported that Plenskofski swung the axe toward his head, but he was able to stop the swing with his right hand.

Troopers said the weapon involved was described as an all-black double-bit axe.

Plenskofski was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault, and two summary counts of harassment.

Court records show the charges were filed on July 9, 2026, through Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli’s office.  As of this posting, Plenskofski has not been arraigned.
