The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch at 3:25 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2026. The watch remains in effect until 11:00 p.m. Friday evening.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms in and around the watch area. Residents should stay weather aware and be prepared to take action if warnings are issued.
Severe storms that develop could bring damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, heavy rainfall, and the potential for hail.
For Schuylkill County, showers or thunderstorms could move through the eastern parts of the county during the 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. hour range, but that does not mean storms won't develop before or after that timeframe. Residents should continue to monitor the forecast throughout the evening, especially those attending outdoor events.
Several fireworks displays are scheduled across Schuylkill County Friday evening, including celebrations in Frackville, at Heisler’s Dairy Bar, and at Big Diamond Speedway. Anyone planning to attend should keep an eye on changing weather conditions and have a way to receive weather alerts.
