State Police are offering a $5,000 reward for information that helps investigators solve the 2003 homicide of Caryn J. Fortino.
Fortino, 38, was found dead on May 23, 2003, in a wooded area off Interstate 81 in Delano Township. Investigators determined she had been strangled, with her cause of death listed as asphyxiation due to strangulation.
The discovery came approximately three months after Fortino was last known to have contact with her family in February 2003.
In the years since her death, investigators with the Pennsylvania State Police Troop L, Frackville Criminal Investigation Unit have continued working the case, but no arrest has been made.
More than two decades later, investigators are hoping someone may have information that can provide the break needed to solve the case.
State Police are encouraging anyone who may have information about Fortino, her whereabouts before her death, or the circumstances surrounding the homicide to contact investigators. Authorities stress that even information that may appear insignificant could prove useful when combined with evidence already gathered in the investigation.
Anyone with information can contact Pennsylvania State Police at Reading at 610-378-4454.
