Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio identified the victim Monday as Keith Staines, 52, of Tamaqua. An autopsy conducted Monday determined Staines died from multiple blunt force trauma. His death was ruled accidental.
The crash occurred Friday, August 7, 2026, in the area of Route 309 and Gun Club Road in Lynn Township, Lehigh County.
According to the Coroner’s Office, officials were notified of the crash at approximately 3:35 p.m. The collision involved a tractor-trailer and a tanker truck. Staines, who was operating the tanker truck, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:10 p.m. No other fatalities were reported.
Staines was initially identified only as a 52-year-old Tamaqua resident while authorities worked to notify his family and next of kin.
The Pennsylvania State Police at Fogelsville and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the crash along with the Coroner’s Office.
