PennDOT Announces Road Work This Week on I-81 and Morea Road in Schuylkill County

Motorists traveling through Schuylkill County should be prepared for lane restrictions this week as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) conducts maintenance work on Interstate 81 and Morea Road.
PennDOT crews will perform crack sealing on Interstate 81 southbound in Foster Township between Exit 112 (PA 25) and Exit 119 (Highridge Park Road).

The work is scheduled to take place Monday, August 3, through Thursday, August 6, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. A southbound lane restriction will be in place while crews are working. PennDOT says the project is expected to proceed as scheduled, with no rain delays anticipated.

Meanwhile, motorists using Morea Road in Mahanoy Township should also expect delays as PennDOT crews perform drainage work between Frackville and Mahanoy City Road.

That project is scheduled for Monday, August 3, through Friday, August 7, also between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. each day. Traffic will be controlled with lane restrictions and flaggers through the work zone. PennDOT does not anticipate weather-related delays for the project.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, remain alert for changing traffic patterns, obey flaggers and posted work zone signs, and allow extra travel time when passing through the affected areas.
