Schuylkill County Announces 2026 Fall Cleanup and Recycling Event

Schuylkill County residents will have an opportunity to dispose of tires, appliances, scrap metal and bulky household items during the county’s 2026 Fall Cleanup and Recycling Event in September.
The County of Schuylkill, working with participating municipalities and businesses, will hold collection events during the weeks of September 7 and September 14 at locations throughout the county.

The program is open to all Schuylkill County residents and also provides an outlet for municipalities that do not have their own tire and appliance collection programs. Proof of county residency will be required.

County officials noted that no electronics will be collected during this year’s program.

Accepted tires are limited to automobile, light truck, motorcycle and RV tires. The fee is $2 per tire, with a limit of 20 tires per load and no more than two loads per customer.

Freon-bearing appliances, including air conditioners, refrigerators and dehumidifiers, will be accepted for $10 each. Non-Freon appliances and scrap metal, including stoves, washers, dryers, water heaters, bicycles, barbecue grills and metal furniture, can be dropped off at no charge.

Bulky items will also be accepted. Mattresses, box springs, rolls of carpet, doors and windows will cost $10 each. Sofas and overstuffed chairs will be charged at $5 per cushion.

Household hazardous waste, including paints, solvents, cleaners and poisons, will not be accepted. Commercial appliances are also excluded from the program.

Residents with questions about disposal of items should contact the Schuylkill County Office of Solid Waste and Resource Management at 570-628-1220.

The program is funded by the Schuylkill County Board of Commissioners and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
