Robert Troutman, 58, of Schuylkill Haven, was sentenced Thursday before Schuylkill County Judge William Burke.
According to Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday, Troutman pleaded guilty to felony counts of sexual abuse of children. Burke sentenced Troutman to 8 to 16 years in prison and ordered him to register as a sex offender for 15 years following his release.
“This significant prison sentence considers the defendant’s conduct for what it is — exploitation and abuse of children,” Sunday said. “Our Child Predator Section is committed to finding offenders online and putting a stop to their targeting of kids.”
Charges against Troutman were originally filed in December 2024 following an investigation by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, investigators received a tip that an IP address linked to Troutman was being used to upload child sexual abuse material.
Agents subsequently executed a search warrant at Troutman’s Schuylkill Haven home and examined several electronic devices. Investigators discovered more than 50 illicit files involving children, according to authorities. The Attorney General’s Office said most of the material depicted very young children.
